PEFTEC 2015 - Exhibitor - Whitehouse Scientific

The company was founded by Dr Graham Rideal. He left ICI in 1983 where he worked as a senior research scientist. Here he headed a large team which embarked on pioneering work in the field of Nanotechnology. It was his fundamental studies of Angstrom sized mineral platelets that highlighted the need for improved measurement techniques and calibration standards for these ultra-fine platelets.

The laboratory now manufactures one of the largest ranges of glass calibration microspheres available today covering sizes from nanometre to millimetre. Whitehouse Scientific is unusual in that it is research rather than sales driven as evidenced by over 60 technical papers and patents by Dr Rideal.

A unique feature of the particle size standards is that they are packaged as dry samples for "single shot" analysis so minimising operator sub-sampling errors. Over 1 million single shot bottles have now been produced for almost every particle sizing instrument.

Recent years has seen an exponential growth in the use of the standards for calibrating filters. Innovative technology now enables filter performance to be unambiguously measured with results traceable in international standards of length.

Products on Display at PEFTEC

Whitehouse Scientific will exhibit its unique range of filter calibration products and services, including the new ShapeSizerTM, a static image analysis system which measures particles and particle shapes. Using an optical microscope connected to a high quality 1.3 megapixel camera, it provides detailed statistical analysis, including a suite of graphical outputs and pre-formatted certificates. The ShapeSizerTM provides a transparent measurement process, which is traceable using certified reference standards.

As an extension to the ShapeSizerTM, Whitehouse Scientific will also display the unique PoreSizerâ„¢, a powerful new tool developed to measure and determine the precise dimensions of square filter measures, including test sieves. Using glass bead filter standards, it is now possible for this first time to measure the geometric pore size of complex three dimensional filters. All measures are traceable to international standards of length.

Whitehouse Scientific's CEO, Dr Graham Rideal, will also be available on the booth to discuss the company's extension to its unique sieve calibration standards.

Whitehouse Scientific has been relied upon around the world as a provider of high quality particle sizing standards and calibration microspheres for more than 30 years. The company provides standards for techniques that include laser diffraction, coulter methods, optical sizing, sieve calibration and image analysis. The results are highly reproducible and traceable to international standards such as NIST.
